Having a better education means having a better future Success. Why? Because people with proper education are most likely to have the opportunity to choose what career they want to pursue in the future. However, is there any relevance to consider gender when talking about education? Let’s find it out below.
- Are girls better than boys when it comes to education?
According to studies, most of the girls in the present are fond of reading even at early age and they are more likely to borrow books from the library as compared to boys. Likewise, girls tend to be more communicative in school and this is one experience that the school is providing for the students. Also, we can say that girls are better than boys in other things most especially that they tend to see their mothers with having successful careers thereby, striving hard in the school to follow the footsteps of their mothers. Finally, a lot of teachers are having more expectations for the girls as compared with the boys. Girls are expected to follow and be good in the classroom because frankly speaking boys would never sit still in the classroom while doing nothing since it’s their nature to be active most of the time. In other words, the girls are more likely to work harder just to please the expectations of the teachers and eventually increasing their grades.
- Why do boys sometimes fail when it comes to Education?
In one survey, 65% of the girls are likely to get grades from A-C while only 52% for the boys. One reason suggests that a lot of boys are likely to suffer from peer pressure particularly for the white working class boys. They need to set an impression that they are cool and being good in education isn’t cool for them because they don’t want to be tagged as “nerds”. Likewise, according to another study young men tend to be obligated in showing their masculinity in the school environment like in a form of getting involved in fighting around the premises. Lastly, the boys nowadays care about being cool around their friends while showing their dominant characteristics but sadly care less about doing well in their academics.
To wrap it up, boys and girls differ a lot from each other in terms of wants, needs, capabilities, and above all how they perceive several things however; regardless of these differences they shouldn’t be judge in terms of their capabilities in school because of their gender. The important thing is that parents and teachers should work hand in hand to provide assistance in terms of their education.
